2018 PAGC Match Play Championship

Sept. 8 & 9, 2018  (Rounds 1 & 2)

Welcome to the 2018 Palo Alto Golf Club Match Play Championship.

We have 36 participants. Given a non power of 2 and to minimize byes, we will have a slightly modified bracket system. 9 mini-brackets of 4 players.

Brackets and tees will be re-ordered from round 3. Refer to the chart below.

We will adhere to USGA rules, Baylands Golf Links and PAGC local rules.

Refer to USGA match play rules:  Link to USGA Rules page

Carts are not included in the entry fee and can be rented for $16 per rider.

Winners in the first round will be responsible for paying your own green fees on Sunday upon check-in. ($59)

Brackets and Tees will be listed on your scorecard. They are also posted on eclubhouse and the event portal.  Brackets 1-5 (Blue tees), Brackets 6-9 (White tees)

Rounds 3, 4,5  schedules are TBD pending player availability.  Finals need to be completed by Oct. 15th.

A rules note regarding how to score unfinished holes or conceded strokes in match play:

4-1. Unfinished Holes and Conceded Strokes

A player who starts, but does not complete a hole or is conceded a stroke must record for handicap purposes the most likely score. This most likely score should be preceded by an "X." (See Decision 4-1/1.)

Example 2: A and B are playing a match. On a hole on which neither player receives a handicap stroke, A has holed out in 4; B has a 30-foot putt for a 5. B has lost the hole, and picks up. B records X-6 on the scorecard because 6 is B's most likely score.

Example 3: A and B are playing a match. On a hole on which neither player receives a handicap stroke, A is one foot from the hole, lying 4. B is 10 feet from the hole, lying 3. B putts and misses. They both concede a half. Both players record X-5 because that is their most likely score.
Please visit Section 4-1 of the USGA Handicap System manual for further reference.

Please return your signed scorecards to James Kaku at the restaurant.
